Audio Cutter

Trim a song, voice note or podcast clip to the exact part you need.

How to cut audio

  1. Choose an audio file (MP3, WAV, M4A/AAC, OGG or FLAC, depending on your browser).
  2. Type the start and end as mm:ss or seconds. The waveform highlights your selection.
  3. Add fades for smooth ringtones and intros, preview, then download.

Save as WAV (uncompressed, best for further editing) or MP3 (much smaller: 192 kbps is about 1.4 MB per minute). The MP3 is encoded on your device too.

MP3 files are encoded with LAME (lamejs 1.2.1, licensed under the LGPL-3.0), which is loaded unmodified as a separate file. Licence and source code.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make a ringtone?

Yes. Cut up to 30 seconds with a short fade in and out. Android accepts WAV; iPhone needs conversion to M4R.

Is my audio uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser.

Can I save the clip as MP3?

Yes. Choose MP3 under Save as and pick a bitrate: 192 kbps suits music, 128 kbps is plenty for speech. WAV is lossless but about 10 MB per minute of stereo.
