How it works
Most PDFs store text as small pieces placed at exact positions on the page. The converter reads those pieces, puts them back into lines in reading order, joins lines into paragraphs by the spacing between them, and marks larger text as headings. Words split with a hyphen at the end of a line are joined again. Font names tell it which text is bold or italic.

Why is my Word file empty?
