How to resize an image
- Choose a photo.
- Pick a preset (passport, stamp, signature, HD, Instagram, YouTube thumbnail) or type a width and height in pixels.
- Choose how it should fit, and optionally set a maximum file size in KB.
- Click Resize image and download. The file name includes the new size.
Crop to fill, fit inside or stretch
- Crop to fill: exactly the size you asked for, trimming the edges evenly. Best for photo and signature boxes on forms.
- Fit inside: the whole picture is kept and scaled to fit, so one side may come out smaller than you typed.
- Stretch: forces the exact size and can distort faces; rarely what you want.
Leave width or height blank to keep the proportions: a 4000 × 3000 photo resized to 1080 wide becomes 1080 × 810.
Example: a passport-size photo from a phone picture
The 35 × 45 mm preset is 413 × 531 pixels at 300 DPI. From a 4000 × 3000 landscape photo, Crop to fill keeps the central 2333 × 3000 area and scales it down, so frame the photo with your face in the middle. For a proper print sheet with guides, use the Passport photo maker.
Tips for exam and job forms
- Forms often give both pixel size and a KB range (for example 20–50 KB). Set the pixels here, then the max KB.
- Resize the photo and the signature separately; they have different sizes.
