Shrink a PDF to the exact size an online form asks for, such as 100 KB, 200 KB or 500 KB.
How it works
- Each page is drawn at 150 DPI and saved as a JPEG image.
- The tool searches for the highest JPEG quality (between 30% and 90%) that keeps the whole PDF under your target.
- If even the lowest quality is too big, it lowers the resolution (120, 100, 84โฆ down to 50 DPI) and tries again.
This tool counts 1 KB as 1,024 bytes, so a 200 KB target means at most 204,800 bytes, with a small safety margin.
What to expect
A single scanned page usually stays sharp at 100โ200 KB. For multi-page documents, allow roughly 50 KB per page for text to stay easy to read, so a 10-page document fits comfortably in 500 KB. In our own test, a 399 KB scanned document came out at 194 KB with the 200 KB target, still easy to read.
Tips for upload forms
- Scan documents in black and white where colour isn't required, or tick black and white here; they compress much better.
- Remove blank or extra pages first with Delete PDF pages.
- Some forms mean 200 KB as 204,800 bytes and others as 200,000 bytes. Pick a slightly lower target to be safe.
- Keep your original: the compressed copy has pages as images, so its text can't be selected or searched.

Frequently asked questions
How do I compress a PDF to under 200 KB?
Choose your PDF, pick 200 KB and click Compress. The tool lowers image quality and resolution step by step until the file fits, and keeps the highest quality that does.
How do I get a PDF under 100 KB?
Pick the 100 KB preset. For a one- or two-page document that's usually enough to stay readable; for more pages, tick black and white, which keeps text sharper at small sizes, or remove pages you don't need first. If 100 KB can't be reached, the tool says so and gives you the smallest readable version.
Can I compress a PDF to 500 KB or 1 MB?
Yes. Use the 500 KB or 1 MB preset, or type any size in KB. The 1 MB preset is 1,024 KB. Larger targets keep more detail, so choose the biggest size your form accepts.
Will the text still be readable?
Yes, for normal documents. Each page is saved as an image at up to 150 DPI. For very small targets with many pages, try black and white, which keeps text sharper at a smaller size.
Why can't I select text after compressing?
To reach strict size limits, pages are turned into images. Upload forms only need the pages to be readable, but keep your original PDF if you need to copy text later.
Is my document uploaded?
No. The whole process runs in your browser, which is important for ID proofs, mark sheets and certificates.
