How to pick a colour from an image
- Choose an image: a logo, a photo or a screenshot.
- Tap or click anywhere on it to read that pixel's colour.
- Copy the value as HEX, RGB or HSL with one tap.
The tool also finds the image's 8 main colours automatically, a quick palette you can copy for a design, a slide deck or a website.
HEX, RGB and HSL
- HEX (#FF0000) is what websites, Canva and most design apps accept.
- RGB (rgb(255, 0, 0)) gives the red, green and blue amounts from 0 to 255.
- HSL (hsl(0, 100%, 50%)) gives hue, saturation and lightness, which makes it easy to create lighter or darker shades of the same colour.
These three examples are the same pure red.
Tips
- Pick from the middle of a flat area. Edges blend into neighbouring colours, and JPG compression shifts colours slightly.
- For a brand colour, use the logo's original PNG or SVG export rather than a photo of it.
- Screenshots are exact; photos depend on the lighting and camera, so treat their colours as close matches.
