Hours Calculator

A time calculator for work: add up hours worked each day and across the week, with breaks and overnight shifts, in hours and minutes or decimal hours.

₹
Total this week
40 h 00 min
Decimal hours
40

Use 24-hour time. If the end is earlier than the start, the shift is counted as ending the next day.

How it works

For each day, hours worked = end time − start time − break. Times use the 24-hour clock (18:30, not 6:30 pm). The weekly total adds every day, shown as hours and minutes and as decimal hours. Enter an hourly rate to see pay for the week.

Example

Monday to Friday from 09:30 to 18:30 with a one-hour break is 8 hours a day, or 40 hours for the week. At ₹250 an hour, that's ₹10,000.

Tips

  • Leave a day empty if you didn't work.
  • For the number of days between two dates, or to add days to a date, use the date calculator instead.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate hours between two times?

Convert both times to minutes, subtract, and remove the break. From 09:30 to 18:15 with a 45-minute break is 525 − 45 = 480 minutes, or 8 hours.

What about night shifts?

If the end time is earlier than the start time, the calculator assumes the shift ended the next day. 22:00 to 06:00 is 8 hours.

What are decimal hours?

Hours written as a decimal for payroll: 7 hours 30 minutes is 7.5 hours. Multiply decimal hours by the hourly rate to get pay.

Can I add up hours and minutes from several days?

Yes. Enter each day's start and end times and breaks; the weekly total adds them all, so 7 h 45 min + 8 h 30 min shows as 16 h 15 min (16.25 decimal hours). Leave days you didn't work empty.
