How the estimate works

Earnings = views ÷ 1,000 × RPM. We show a low–high range because RPM changes with season (Q4 is usually highest), audience country and niche. Monthly figures assume 30 days of the same daily views.

How to raise your RPM

  • Make videos longer than 8 minutes so mid-roll ads can run.
  • Target topics advertisers pay for: finance, software, business and education.
  • Grow viewers in higher-paying countries with English or dubbed versions of your videos.
  • Add affiliate links and sponsorships. They often out-earn ads.

Frequently asked questions

How much does YouTube pay per 1,000 views?

It depends on your RPM, which is your share of revenue per 1,000 views. RPM varies hugely with audience country, niche, video length and season. Finance and business videos for US/UK viewers earn many times more than entertainment videos for Indian viewers, and Shorts earn far less than long videos.

What is the difference between RPM and CPM?

CPM is what advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions, before YouTube's share. RPM is what you actually earn per 1,000 views, after YouTube's share and including views that showed no ads. Use RPM to estimate your income.

When can I start earning from ads?

Ad revenue needs the full YouTube Partner Program: currently 1,000 subscribers plus 4,000 public watch hours in 12 months, or 10 million Shorts views in 90 days. YouTube has announced that from February 2027 new applicants will need 8,000 watch hours or 20 million Shorts views. A lower tier (500 subscribers) unlocks memberships, Super Thanks and Shopping, but not ad revenue.

How can I earn more than ad revenue?

Most successful channels earn more from sponsorships, affiliate links, YouTube Shopping, memberships and their own products than from AdSense alone.
