Formulas

  • Attendance % = attended ÷ total × 100
  • Classes to attend (to reach target t) = (t × total − attended) ÷ (1 − t), rounded up
  • Classes you can miss = attended ÷ t − total, rounded down

Example

You have attended 42 of 60 classes, which is 70%. To reach 75% you must attend the next 12 classes without missing any (54 of 72).

Tips

  • Count labs and lectures the way your college does; some calculate attendance per subject.
  • Don't plan to sit exactly at the limit: one unexpected absence pushes you below it.

Frequently asked questions

How many classes do I need to reach 75%?

Classes needed = (0.75 × total − attended) ÷ 0.25, rounded up. With 42 of 60 attended you need 12 more classes in a row: 54 out of 72 is 75%.

How many classes can I miss and stay at 75%?

Classes you can miss = attended ÷ 0.75 − total, rounded down. With 45 of 50 attended you can miss 10: 45 out of 60 is still 75%.

Can I use a different requirement, like 80% or 85%?

Yes. Change the required attendance; the formulas work for any percentage.
