Crop PDF

Cut the margins off PDF pages: drag across the page to choose what to keep, type the margins in millimetres, or trim the white space automatically.

Cropped on your device: the PDF is never uploaded. Text stays sharp and selectable.

How to crop a PDF

  1. Choose a PDF. The first page appears with the crop area marked.
  2. Drag across the page to draw the area to keep, type the margins, or press Trim white margins.
  3. Keep All pages the same, or switch to Page by page to give pages their own margins.
  4. Press Crop PDF and download the result.

How it works

A PDF page has a crop box (what viewers show) and a media box (the page size printers use). The tool moves both inward by your margins. Margins are measured as you see the page, so on a page stored sideways and shown rotated, "top" still means the top of what you see.

Example

An A4 page is 210 ร— 297 mm. Cutting 20 mm off the top, 25 mm off the bottom and 15 mm off each side leaves 210 โˆ’ 15 โˆ’ 15 = 180 mm by 297 โˆ’ 20 โˆ’ 25 = 252 mm. In PDF units (72 to the inch, so 1 mm = 2.835 points) the new box starts 42.52 points from the left and 70.87 points from the bottom, and is 510.24 ร— 714.33 points.

Tips

  • Scanned pages with grey borders or punch holes: drag the box just inside the paper edge.
  • Each page must keep at least 10 mm each way.
  • To change the paper size instead, for example Letter to A4, use Resize PDF. To make the file smaller, use Compress PDF to size.

Frequently asked questions

Can I crop only one page?

Yes. Choose Page by page, go to the page, and set its margins. Pages you don't change keep the margins set for the whole document (0 by default, which leaves them as they are).

How do I remove white margins automatically?

Press Trim white margins. The page is scanned for its first and last non-white pixels and the margins are set to leave 3 mm around the content. For all pages at once, it keeps the margins that are white on every page, so no page loses content.

Does cropping delete the hidden part?

No. As in most PDF croppers, the area outside the crop box is hidden, not removed from the file, and some editors can show it again. Don't rely on cropping to remove confidential information.

Will the text stay sharp?

Yes. Only the page boxes change; the text, pictures and drawings are not redrawn, so text stays sharp and selectable.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The PDF is cropped in your browser and never leaves your device.
