Add Border to Image

Frame a photo with a clean border so it stands out in feeds and prints.

How to add a border

  1. Choose a photo.
  2. Set the border width and corner rounding as a percentage of the photo's shorter side.
  3. Pick the border colour, check the preview and download the PNG.

How the sizes work

Because the border is a percentage, it looks the same on any photo. The default 4% on a 1080 ร— 1080 Instagram post adds 43 pixels on each side, so the result is 1166 ร— 1166. Rounding works the same way: 10% gives soft corners, and 50% on a square photo gives a circle.

Ideas

  • A white border makes photos look like prints, and keeps edges from being cropped on Instagram or WhatsApp status.
  • A brand-colour border with rounded corners makes product photos and quote cards consistent.
  • Rounded corners with a background matching your website make images blend into the page.

The photo itself isn't resized or re-compressed; the result is a lossless PNG. To make it a smaller file afterwards, use the Image compressor, or resize it back to an exact size.
